What is Afterpay Plus?
Afterpay Plus is a subscription that gives you access to pay in 4 interest-free instalments almost anywhere Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay is accepted. Afterpay Plus subscribers receive an upgraded digital card that lives in their digital wallet, and provides access to use Afterpay in more places than the standard Afterpay Card.
How can I apply/subscribe for the Afterpay Plus Card?
Afterpay Plus is available exclusively to existing customers on an invitation-only basis and is not yet available for general release. Invitation to Afterpay Plus is limited and considers credit eligibility criteria (outlined in our Terms & Conditions). You can check your availability for Afterpay Plus via the Afterpay app.

There are a few reasons why you might not see the option to subscribe to Afterpay Plus. This could be due to:

Where can I use the Afterpay Plus Card?
The Afterpay Plus Card can be used almost anywhere Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay is accepted. Certain merchant, product, goods, and service restrictions apply.
Please read the Afterpay Plus User Terms, located in the Afterpay Terms, the applicable Pay terms and be aware of any merchant, product, goods, and service restrictions before using your Afterpay Plus Card.
Restricted merchants include but are not limited to Gambling, Adult Services, Telemarketing and some financial related transactions (e.g. money transfers).
How does the Afterpay Plus Card work?
Sign up for the Afterpay Plus Card in the Afterpay app. Follow the prompts to add the Afterpay Plus Card to your digital wallet. When you’re ready to pay, select the Afterpay Plus Card in your digital wallet and tap to pay almost anywhere Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay are accepted.
How much can I spend with the Afterpay Plus Card?
Your Afterpay Plus available spend limit is the same as your current Afterpay account limit. You can view your available spend limit in the Afterpay app.
Afterpay is more likely to approve purchases and increase spending limits for customers who consistently make on-time payments.
Do I still use my Afterpay Card if I subscribe to Afterpay Plus?
Afterpay Plus subscribers will be upgraded and issued a new Afterpay Plus Card which automatically replaces the standard Afterpay Card in your digital wallet.
How much does the Afterpay Plus cost?
There is a $9.99 monthly fee. The date you sign up to Afterpay Plus, is the date the monthly subscription fee is payable each month.
How do order repayments work with the Afterpay Plus Card?
Purchases are still split into 4 payments, payable every 2 weeks as normal. The Plus Card also provides you with the ability to align your repayments to your preferred weekday. For example, if you set your preferred payment day for a Friday, all future order repayments will align to this day. This means, if you place 2 orders on a Monday and Wednesday, the payments for both orders will be due on the next Friday in a fortnight.
If you’ve set a preferred payment day, please keep in mind that your instalments will be bundled and processed in one transaction on their due date (providing they have the same payment method). This means the transaction on your bank statement will look a little different to what you’re used to! For more information, click here!
How do I set a preferred payment day to align my repayments? Will this change the day that the monthly subscription fee is processed?
Aligning repayments to your preferred day will not change the day that your monthly subscription fee is processed.
If using the Afterpay App, click on ‘My Afterpay’ and head to the settings button on the top right hand corner. Click on ‘Payment Settings’ and you will see the option to choose a preferred payment day to repay your orders.
If using the Afterpay online portal, click on ‘My Account’ and head to ‘Payment Settings’, from there you’ll be able to set your preferred payment day, as well as changing the day at any time.
Please note, only payments on your future orders will align to the selected day, not any existing orders. You can turn off preferred payment day at any time; please keep in mind that this will only impact future orders, and any existing orders will still be aligned to your initial preferred day.
Can I still align my order repayments if my subscription is paused?
Yes, you can! If you’ve already set a preferred payment day for your order repayments and then paused your Plus Card subscription, your payments will still remain aligned (and the date is able to be changed) unless you turn this off.

How do I return something I purchased using the Afterpay Plus Card?
Afterpay purchases follow the merchant’s standard return policy. Check with the merchant to make sure your purchase is eligible for return.
If your item is eligible for a refund to your original form of payment, follow these steps:
- Launch the Afterpay app and tap the In-Store tab.
- Select “How it Works” in the top right corner, followed by “How do I return an order?”
- Tap the “Make a return now” button, followed by “Refund to Afterpay Plus Card”
- Your Afterpay Plus Card will open in your digital wallet. Tap the phone near the card reader to initiate the return.
- If the return is successful, it may take up to 10 days for funds to be returned to your card.
How do I cancel the Afterpay Plus subscription?
Important! Once you cancel your subscription to the Afterpay Plus Card, you will not be able to sign up again for 12 months.
To avoid being unable to sign up again within 12 months, we recommend electing to pause your Afterpay Plus subscription rather than cancel. You are able to pause your subscription once every 12 months, for a period of up to 3 months.
To pause your subscription, please follow these steps;
- Go to My Afterpay
- Tap on the settings icon (top right)
- Tap on manage Afterpay Plus Card
- Tap on Pause Afterpay Plus Subscription
- Select Pause Subscription Period (1, 2 or 3 months)
- Tap Confirmation Message
To cancel your subscription, please follow these steps;
- Go to My Afterpay
- Tap on the settings icon (top right)
- Tap on manage Afterpay Plus Card
- Tap on Cancel Afterpay Plus Card
Once you have confirmed cancellation you will continue to have access to use the Afterpay Plus Card until the end of the current billing cycle. At the end of the billing cycle your Afterpay Plus card will automatically be replaced and issued with a new standard Afterpay Card which is accepted only by Afterpay merchants.
Please note: If you have set up a preferred payment day for your repayments to be processed, this will remain on and apply to all future orders. You can turn this off at any time, however you will not be able to realign your payments if you wish to do so in future.
What happens if my account becomes overdue?
There are a few reasons your account may become overdue and your Afterpay Plus subscription cancelled.
If you have missed an instalment and your payment is not made within 7 days, your Afterpay Plus subscription will be cancelled
If payment fails for your Afterpay Plus monthly subscription fee and payment is not made within 7 days, your Afterpay Plus subscription will be cancelled.
