To set up a PIN for your Afterpay Card, login your Afterpay App, click 'In-store', then 'How it works' in the top right corner, and the click ‘Change Card PIN’. You will be prompted to choose and reconfirm your PIN. You can then re-attempt your purchase and use your PIN when prompted. This PIN can be changed at any time via the Afterpay App.
Why is the payment terminal prompting me for a PIN to complete my purchase?
In-store purchases over $200 made with a mobile device do not typically require a PIN to be entered on the payment terminal, as the cardholder is identified via their mobile device with Face ID, Touch ID or Passcode. However, a small of payment terminals will not accept ‘on device’ identification of the cardholder and will require a PIN to be entered to complete the transaction. To set up a PIN for your Afterpay Card:
- Click the In-Store tab at the bottom of the app
- Click the 'How it works' button on top right hand corner
- Click how to set or update your pin
- Click on 'Set or update your PIN'
You will be prompted to choose and reconfirm your PIN. You can then re-attempt your purchase and using your PIN when prompted.
What PIN do I use if prompted for a refund?
Some merchant terminals will be configured to request a PIN when processing a refund. If you have set up a PIN already - use this PIN when processing a refund. If you haven't, follow the instructions to set up a PIN!
