What is Afterpay Plus?
Afterpay Plus is a subscription that gives you access to pay it in 4 interest-free instalments almost anywhere Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay is accepted. Afterpay Plus subscribers receive an upgraded digital card that lives in their digital wallet, and provides access to use Afterpay in more places than the standard Afterpay Card.
How can I apply/subscribe for the Afterpay Plus Card?
Afterpay Plus is available to existing customers on an invitation-only basis and based on eligibility criteria set out in the Specific Terms. If you are eligible, you will see a banner in the Afterpay app with an invitation to subscribe to Afterpay Plus.

Where can I use the Afterpay Plus Card?
The Afterpay Plus Card can be used almost anywhere Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay is accepted. Certain merchant, product, goods, and service restrictions apply, for more information please see the Specific Terms.
Restricted merchants include but are not limited to Gambling, Adult Services, Telemarketing and some financial related transactions (e.g. money transfers).
How does the Afterpay Plus Card work?
If eligible, sign up for Afterpay Plus in the Afterpay app. Follow the prompts to add the digital Afterpay Plus Card to your digital wallet. When you’re ready to pay, select the Afterpay Plus Card in your digital wallet and tap to pay where Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay are accepted.
Do I still use my Afterpay Card if I subscribe to Afterpay Plus?
Afterpay Plus subscribers will be upgraded and issued a new Afterpay Plus Card which automatically replaces the standard Afterpay Card in your digital wallet.
How much does the Afterpay Plus cost?
Subscription costs $9.99 a month, and Afterpay late fees also apply.
How do order repayments work with Afterpay Plus?
Purchases are still split into 4 instalments, payable approximately every 2 weeks as normal. This can change depending on your preferred payment day, and if you have access to 'no payment upfront'. To find out more, click here.
How do I return something I purchased using Afterpay Plus?
Purchases made with Afterpay follow the merchant’s standard return policy. Check with the merchant to make sure your purchase is eligible for return.
If your item is eligible for a refund to your original form of payment, follow these steps:
- Launch the Afterpay app and tap the In-Store tab.
- Tap the three dots in the top corner, followed by “How do I return an order?”
- Tap the “Make a return now” button, followed by “Refund to Afterpay Plus Card”
- Your Afterpay Plus Card will open in your digital wallet. Tap the phone on the merchant's card reader to initiate the return.
- If the return is successful, it may take up to 10 days for funds to be returned to your card.
How do I cancel my Afterpay Plus subscription?
To cancel your subscription, please follow these steps;
- Go to the My Afterpay tab
- Tap on the settings icon (top right)
- Tap on ’Manage Afterpay Plus Card’
- Tap on ‘Cancel Afterpay Plus Card’
To pause your subscription, please follow these steps;
- Go to the My Afterpay tab
- Tap on the settings icon (top right)
- Tap on ‘Manage Afterpay Plus Card’
- Tap on ‘Pause Afterpay Plus Subscription’
- Choose pause subscription period (1, 2 or 3 months)
- Confirm your choice
Once you have confirmed cancellation you will continue to have access to use the Afterpay Plus Card until the end of the current billing cycle. At the end of the billing cycle your Afterpay Plus card will automatically be replaced and you will be issued with the standard Afterpay Card which is accepted only by participating Afterpay merchants.
Why is my Plus subscription suspended or cancelled?
Some of the reasons your Afterpay Plus subscription may have been suspended or cancelled include:
- If you have missed an instalment and your payment is not made within the notified period.
- If payment fails for your Afterpay Plus monthly subscription fee and payment is not made within 7 days.
