Afterpay is committed to working with our community to promote responsible spending. This means Afterpay community members buying what they can afford, and making payments according to our short term instalment plan.
To help with this, we limit Afterpay to people who are 18 years or older and who are genuinely committed to working with us to plan, book, buy and pay responsibly.
To protect your privacy and security and comply with regulatory requirements, we need to verify your identity when you sign up to Afterpay. All personal information you provide in the verification process will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy here.
Need to check your verification status or provide more information?
You can do this by selecting “My Afterpay” under the “Account” heading in the web portal, or by selecting “My Afterpay” in the Afterpay App.
We may require you to upload one or both of the following (legible photo required):
- New Zealand Driver Licence
- New Zealand Passport
Note: We may request further documentation at a later state.
Take care to key in the information correctly, it must match what you have keyed in to your Afterpay Account Profile exactly.
Once your account has been verified successfully, we will automatically perform a credit check to determine your eligibility and spend limit with Afterpay. This check may be visible to other lenders and may impact your credit score.

We can help! You can contact us and provide a copy of your ID. To submit your ID, you can click here, or message us through your Afterpay app. We aim to review and respond within 2 business days.
