How can I verify my account?
To protect your privacy and security and to comply with regulatory requirements, we need to verify your identity when you sign up with Afterpay.
All personal information you provide in the verification process will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
How do I check my verification status?
You can check the status of your verification by tapping “My Afterpay” in the app, or by clicking on the “Account” tab in the web portal.
To verify your account, you will be required to take a photo of your chosen ID. In some cases, you may be required to upload an image of your face, or provide a document to verify your address.
We accept the following ID documents:
- Canadian Passport
- Canadian Driver License
- Provincial or territorial identity card
- Permanent Resident Card
- Indigenous Card
- Foreign Passports issued by France, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
We accept the following Address verification documents:
Government-Issued Documents
- Government photo ID (scanned copy is accepted)
- Property tax assessment
- Vehicle registration
Bills and Financial Documents
- Utility bills (electricity, water, phone)
- Insurance documents (home, auto, life)
- Brokerage/Investment statements (RRSP, TFSA, RRIF, Non-registered)
- Bank Statements (savings or chequing accounts)
Documents must be current and must clearly display your name and address. Take care to key in the information correctly; it must match what you have keyed into your Afterpay profile exactly.
