Please refer to the information below on how to appoint an authorised third party on an Afterpay account.
I’m a Customer
If you wish to nominate a third party representative for your account, please contact us via the Afterpay app or on info@afterpay.com with a fully completed Letter of Authority form. A Letter of Authority form can be downloaded at the bottom of this article.
I’m a financial counsellor
From time to time, we understand that customers experiencing financial difficulty may wish to seek assistance from a financial counsellor to act on their behalf. Please fully complete our Letter of Authority form, including having the account holder sign and date the form, and contact us on financial.counsellors@afterpay.com.
If you wish to be appointed by way of your own Letter of Authority form, please note:
-
- The form must include the account holder’s details, including full name, date of birth, residential address so that we can identify the account holder and match them with the information we hold.
- The form must be signed by the account holder.
-
That we are required to continue sending legislative notices directly to the customer in addition to you, unless the following statements are present on the signed letter of authority:
“I authorise [YOUR FULL NAME (YOU MAY ALSO INCLUDE YOUR FIRM NAME)] to receive notices and other documents under the National Credit Code on behalf of me.” - this is prescribed wording under Reg 111(1)(a) of the National Consumer Credit Protection Regulations 2010; and - There is a prominent statement, as required by Reg 111(1)(b) of the National Consumer Credit Protection Regulations 2010 that:
- the account holder is entitled to receive notices and other documents under the National Credit Code; and
- that by signing the document the account holder is giving up the right to be provided with those notices and documents directly from Afterpay; and
- the customer can revoke the authority you have over their Afterpay account (including in respect of receiving notices and documents) at any time by contacting Afterpay.
You can see how we meet these requirements in our Afterpay Letter of Authority form at the bottom of this article.
