There are two ways you can shop with Amazon, using the Afterpay App, you can search for Amazon and you will be directed to the Amazon app, or you can directly shop via the Amazon app alongside the Afterpay app.
To make a purchase with Amazon using Afterpay you’ll need to create a single use card.
From the 2nd of February 2026 we have changed the way some customers will shop with Amazon using our Single Use payment card.
For some customers the card information will no longer automatically populate, and you will now need to enter the single use card information manually.
For other customers the Afterpay app will continue to auto-fill the payment section with Single-Use Payment details.
How do I create a single use card?
- Add items to your Amazon cart and go to checkout
- At checkout, add payment method and select a credit card
- If shopping through Amazon open the Afterpay app search for Amazon in the Shop directory and click on Amazon and select ‘Enter purchase amount’
- If shopping through the Afterpay app Shop directory, you will be taken straight to the create a single use payment screen and prompted to ‘Enter purchase amount’.
A payment schedule will be presented where you can review the installment agreement and payment authorization terms.
Once you confirm a single use card will be created for the amount that you entered.
Click on ‘Go to Amazon’ where you will be redirected to Amazon to complete the purchase.
Important! When entering your purchase amount remember to include taxes and shipping costs. Any unused amount will be returned to you.
How do I use the single use card to checkout?
Once the single use card is created the following information will be populated:
- Card Number
- Expiration date
- CVV
- Name on Card
You will need to copy and paste the card information from the Afterpay app into the Amazon app. When you click on copy, the relevant information will be copied on your device and so you can easily paste it. You will have to do each field individually and go back and forth.
Once completed click on ‘Go to Amazon’
Important! Once you leave the card details screen, the card details will be hidden. Remember to copy and paste all the card information before confirming that you’re done with your purchase.
What if I accidentally lose the payment card details mid process?
Don’t worry! You can create a new card if needed.
When you have entered the new card details on Amazon and have clicked through, Amazon will show you all saved cards. If you see more than 1 showing, check if the last 4 digits of the card match the Single Use Card that you have just created.
Once the order has been completed, it's best to remove the SUP card you have just used from your saved payment methods in Amazon to prevent future confusion next time you order. You will create a new one each time you place a new order
How do I cancel a Single-Use Payment order with Amazon?
In the Amazon app go to your orders tab, find the relevant order and select cancel.
What do I do if I’ve received notification from Amazon that my order was declined?
This can happen when the order total amount exceeds the value of the Single Use Card.
To complete the order you will need to generate a new single use card where the amount is enough to cover the total order amount.
Note: If the order isn’t cancelled Amazon may attempt to take a payment from a personal card.
I just placed an order. Why is my order not reflected on my Afterpay account?
Orders will reflect in your Afterpay account once Amazon starts processing your order. You can read more about order issues here
