- First, confirm that there are sufficient funds on your card. Generally, we look to see that you have the first installment amount available.
- It may help to reduce your purchase total. Make sure your purchase amount does not exceed the amount you’ve been preapproved to spend. Also, please note that pre approval does not guarantee approval at the time of purchase.
- Stores may have different minimum purchase values. If you’re unsure of the minimum, ask a store associate.
If you’re an existing Afterpay shopper:
- Your outstanding payments may affect your ability to make another purchase
- The number of purchases you currently have 'open' with us could affect your ability to make another purchase
- Please also note that previous late payments—even those made before a late fee is charged—will reduce your spending limits on future purchases, both in store and online.
If you’re a new Afterpay shopper:
- We start new shoppers with a lower spending limit that typically increases over time with more purchases and good payment history.
