What is Pulse Rewards?
Pulse Rewards is a first-of-its-kind program that rewards Afterpay users for spending responsibly.
This isn’t your everyday pay-for-points program where you get a point for every dollar you spend. Instead, on-time payments earn points, which in turn unlock tiers and corresponding benefits. The tier benefits include offers from our top merchants and exclusive Afterpay perks!
We want you to get more of what you love with the flexibility to do so on your own terms. That’s why we created Pulse Rewards.
Who can sign up for Pulse Rewards?
Great news - if you are a New Zealand resident you may join Pulse Rewards.
If you make payments on time, you will remain in the program and be eligible to earn points which unlock new tiers and rewards.
How do I sign up for Pulse Rewards?
It’s easy! Open or Download the Afterpay mobile app
- Click on your “Rewards" on the bottom right of the home screen.
- Confirm your email address and then you’re all set to start earning Pulse Rewards.

How can I use points in the Pulse Rewards program?
Points are used to unlock tiers and the benefits within the tiers. See below for the benefits available for each tier.
Always refer to the Pulse Rewards dashboard in the Pulse app to find your current tier and corresponding unlocked benefits.
Please note, the 'no payment upfront' benefit is not available for gift cards, flights and hotel bookings.
How do I earn points in the Pulse Rewards program?
The Pulse Rewards program is a first-of-its-kind program that rewards Afterpay users for spending responsibly and making payments on-time. Every time you transact above $40 and make an on-time payment, you will earn 10 points. These points accumulate over a 6-month period.
- Each on-time payment = 10 points
- Each Afterpay purchase has 4 payments, so each purchase has the potential to earn 40 points if the payments are all made on time.
- Eligible payments are payments that are made on-time on orders over $40.
For example, let’s say you make 1 purchase with Afterpay. This purchase will have 4 payments. Each time you make an on-time payment you will earn 10 points.
- If you make all 4 payments on-time for this purchase, you will have earned 40 points!
Now let’s say that over a 6-month period you make 3 total purchases with Afterpay. Each of these 3 purchases have 4 payments, for a total of 12 payments.
- If you make all 12 payments on-time, you will have earned 120 points (10 points per payment x 12 payments)!
Points are used to unlock tiers and the benefits within the tiers.
Once you join you will be able to track your progress within the Pulse Rewards dashboard, please note the on-time payments tracker requires 24 to 48 hours to update.
The Pulse Rewards dashboard can be found in the 'Rewards' tab on the home screen of the Afterpay App.
I will pay on time, what else can I do to earn extra points in the Pulse Rewards program?
Yes! In addition to every eligible on-time payment earning 10 points, there are other ways to earn points. Look for more information about these extra points opportunities in the Pulse Rewards dashboard.
Can I ever lose eligibility in the program?
No, as long as you opt-in you can remain in the Pulse Rewards program and earn points for every on-time payment you make.
Can I ever lose eligibility for my tier?
Yes, if your points have unlocked a tier higher than Gold, you can lose your tier benefits if you make too many late payments.
Only 3 late payments are allowed. If you make 4 late payments, you will be moved back to the Gold tier.
From November 1 2021, 1 late payment will be allowed. If you make 2 late payments you will be moved back to the Gold tier.
Do points ever expire?
Yes, all points expire every 6 months.
Find out when your points expire in the Pulse Rewards dashboard.
Do my benefits and points have any cash value?
Points and benefits earned through Pulse Rewards have no cash value, are non transferable and are not directly exchangeable under any circumstances for cash.
When my points expire will I lose my tier?
Not necessarily. Your tier is based on your behavior from the previous 6 months. As long as you made enough on-time payments in the previous 6 months to earn enough points, you will remain in that tier.
For example, if you made 10 on-time payments from January 1st through June 30th, you will have earned 100 points. On July 1, your points will reset to 0, but you will be in Platinum based on your behavior from the previous 6 months.
When you unlock a tier, the benefits of that tier will remain unlocked for at least 6 months (longer if you unlocked the tier earlier in your 6-month period). The only way you will lose your tier is if you make too many late payments.
How do I make sure that I keep my unlocked tier in subsequent eligibility periods?
Easy! As long as you keep making on-time payments, you will continue to earn points (10 points per on-time payment). Your points will accumulate and as soon as you earn enough points to unlock a new tier, that tier’s benefits will immediately become available to you. The tier will remain unlocked until the end of the following 6-month period.
Who can activate?
If you are new to the Mint or Platinum Tier and want to use the “no payment upfront” benefit, you will need to switch it on in the Afterpay app by clicking the “Pay nothing up front” button under “Mint Benefits” section in the Rewards tab.
Is there a limit to NPUF orders?
Yes, the ability to make no payment upfront on orders will only apply to orders that are worth $500 or less (including any applicable taxes and delivery charges). The “no payment upfront” benefit won’t be available for orders that are worth more than $500.
