Afterpay assesses your ability to make repayments in your short instalment plan.
For those who have only recently joined Afterpay, spending limits will generally be lower. However, the longer you are with us, spending responsibly and making repayments on time, the more likely we will be to approve your request for an in-store barcode.
Before attempting to create a barcode with Afterpay, it's important to consider the following:
- Are there sufficient funds in your account to make the first instalment (even if you don't have to)
- How long have you been using Afterpay? We are more likely to limit you to fewer purchases in the first six weeks.
- How much do you have outstanding on previous purchases? The smaller the amount to repay, the more likely your barcode request will be approved.
- Do you have mobile data turned on for our application?
